Welcome to my first official post as Oakley School’s Headteacher! As 2023 begins, exciting preparations for the opening of Oakley School in September are well underway.
The construction at the Oakley School site on Oakley Wood Road has begun and the work at Myton School on our building for September 2023 is making good progress. Our next step is to recruit the right people to join the Oakley School team. In the coming half term, we will appoint our Deputy Headteacher, SENCo and Head of Year 7. I will update you with news of these appointments when they are made.
Last half term we shared with you the outcome of the uniform vote; I think the result is a great one and can’t wait to see our pupils dressed smartly and ready to learn in September. Soon we’ll be consulting our community on other decisions about our school – watch this space!
It’s been really interesting to build my knowledge of the local area to Oakley School. The development of Tachbrook Country Park which is directly accessible from Oakley School site provides lots of exciting opportunities for outdoor learning for our pupils and we are already thinking about we can develop our curriculum to make use of this fantastic facility. I’ve also started visiting primary schools in the local area and meeting some of the wonderful year 6 children who we might be lucky enough to have join us in September. I look forward to continuing these visits and getting to know our pupils and their families really well before our official start in the autumn term.
